However, class sizes may require an alternate placement. Initial placements are tentative and may be changed any time prior to the first day of school.<\/li>\n<li>Placement may be denied for students who have been suspended, expelled, or convicted of a felony.<\/li>\n<li>Once accepted into SOC, there is no need to apply every year as long as you reside in a qualifying district.<\/li>\n<li>Transportation is the responsibility of the parent.<\/li>\n<li>There are MHSAA requirements for transfer students. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mhsaa.com\/portals\/0\/Documents\/AD%20Forms\/Regulations%20Summarized%20Transfer.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Please review the sport-specific transfer rules from the MHSAA <i class=\"fa fa-file-pdf-o \" ><\/i><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kentisd.org\/parents--community\/schools-of-choice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">For additional information about the Schools of Choice program,\u00a0please visit the KISD Schools of Choice website.\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fhps.net\/documents\/2025-26-schools-of-choice-brochure-english.pdf\/\">KISD 2025-2026 Brochure (English)<\/a>\u00a0 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fhps.net\/documents\/2025-26-schools-of-choice-brochure-spanish.pdf\/\">KISD 2025-2026 Brochure (Spanish)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Please note:<\/span> Schools of Choice is ONLY for families who live <em>outside<\/em> the FHPS district.<\/strong> The school in-district FHPS families attend is based on place of residency. If you have questions about what FHPS school your child will attend based on residency, please call the FHPS administration building, 616-493-8800.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"su-box su-box-style-default\" id=\"\" style=\"border-color:#aeb2b9;border-radius:4px\"><div class=\"su-box-title\" style=\"background-color:#e1e5ec;color:#000;border-top-left-radius:2px;border-top-right-radius:2px\">Must Reside within the Kent ISD<\/div><div class=\"su-box-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"border-bottom-left-radius:2px;border-bottom-right-radius:2px\">\n<p style=\"font-size: 15px;\">At the time of application, families must physically reside in one of the Kent ISD school districts but not in the Forest Hills Public Schools District.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"district-thin-rounded-leaf-heading\">2025-2026 School Year<\/h2>\n<p style=\"background: #f2f2f2; width: 50rem; text-align: center; font-weight: bold; font-size: 24px; padding: 1rem; margin: 0 auto; border: 1px solid #c4c9d1; border-radius: 20px;\">The Schools of Choice Application Window for the 2025 &#8211; 2026 School Year is Now Closed.<\/p>\n<h3>Forest Hills Public Schools has a total of 200 Schools of Choice openings for the 2025-26 school year. These openings will be throughout the district in grades Junior Kindergarten through 11th grade. For Schools of Choice families interested in either the Spanish Immersion or Mandarin Chinese Immersion program, there are limited spots available. Please note, the district is not offering a Junior Kindergarten option for either language immersion program.<\/h3>\n<h2 class=\"district-thin-rounded-leaf-heading\">Application Process<\/h2>\n<p>The Kent ISD Collaborative Schools of Choice Program is a lottery-oriented system and <em>is not<\/em> based on a first-come, first-served process. Applicants who submit applications to more than one district will be disqualified from the Schools of Choice program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Two proofs of residency must be submitted with your application.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Acceptable documents are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lease Agreement (including the page with the landlord and tenant signatures)\n<ul>\n<li>All students must be listed as residents on the lease.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Mortgage Statement (within last month)<\/li>\n<li>City Assessor\u2019s Tax Statement (current year)<\/li>\n<li>Current Utility bill or Cable bill (within last month)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--<em>Note:\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/get.adobe.com\/reader\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><em>For the best experience, please use the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader to open PDF files.<\/em><\/strong><\/a>--><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"district-thin-rounded-leaf-heading\">Lottery<\/h2>\n<p>We anticipate receiving more applications than available openings. Therefore, applicants are drawn through a random drawing.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"district-thin-rounded-leaf-heading\">Notification of Placements<\/h2>\n<p>Parents will be notified about placement by May 28, 2025. Families will receive, via email, a Letter of Acceptance indicating placement details. A parent\/guardian must sign and return the Letter of Acceptance no later than June 4, 2025 to <a href=\"mailto:soc@fhps.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">soc@fhps.net<\/a> to confirm their child\u2019s placement.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"district-thin-rounded-leaf-heading\">Waiting List<\/h2>\n<p>Applicants not initially selected for placement are put on a waiting list.
